About Dr. Franklyn Elliott | Atlanta Plastic Surgery, P.C.
Board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1984, Dr. Franklyn Elliott has worked at Atlanta Plastic Surgery for 25 years and is well-known for his contributions to the fields of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Receiving his degree from Vanderbilt University Medical School, Dr. Elliott completed his general surgery residency at Vanderbilt and Tulane and completed his plastic surgery residency at Emory University. His ability to listen to each patient’s needs allows him to perform procedures like breast augmentation, facelift, blepharoplasty, and liposuction.
Dr. Elliott has a special interest in cosmetic and reconstructive breast procedures. In fact, he specializes in the management of breast surgery complications. He also worked to refine the TRAM flap technique for breast reconstruction, which uses abdominal tissue to restore the breast after breast cancer surgery. He served as the program chairman and director of the Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium from 1988 to 2004, and remains the program’s co-director.
Working with liposuction since 1984, Dr. Elliott has noted the changes in fat reduction technology and technique. He also has watched procedures like the facelift change over time. At the forefront of development of the short-scar facelift procedure, Dr. Elliott now offers this “mini” procedure to those patients who are not quite ready for the traditional procedure. His extensive plastic surgery experience helps him determine what new technology is worthwhile to patients. Recently, Dr. Elliott has experimented with the use of Quill™ sutures for their efficiency and potential for infection prevention.
Dr. Elliott is a teacher at heart and has written numerous plastic and reconstructive surgery articles to teach his techniques to others. He also served as the president of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons in 2001, and he is a current member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Elliott works closely with his physician’s assistant of 23 years, Patti Bergey, P.A.-C. and his secretary, Suzanne Campbell to provide complete care to each of his Atlanta cosmetic and reconstructive surgery patients.
Outside of work, Dr. Elliott enjoys traveling with his two daughters. He also enjoys golfing, biking, mountain climbing, and reading history.
