How Do I Make Plastic Surgery Results Look Natural?
“I still want to look natural.” When discussing potential cosmetic surgery results with my patients, this is something that comes up over and over again. Being able to help people improve an aspect of their appearance, while not fundamentally altering their look or making them look “overdone” is often a tricky balance that plastic surgeons must master. It’s also something I’ve been helping my patients with for decades as a board-certified plastic surgeon. Today, I wanted to discuss how I am able to provide natural-looking plastic surgery results for my patients.
There is a subtle difference between helping a patient look better without making them look different. For example, during facelift surgery, I always make it a priority to avoid a result that could make the patient’s face seem “stretched” or unnatural following surgery. I take the same approach to body contouring procedures like breast augmentation as well. The goal of an augmentation procedure isn’t to create a much larger breast contour, but to increase the breast size in a way that can help accentuate a new breast contour, while keeping the patient’s figure in-balance.
In the following video, I go into more detail on how help my patients achieve natural-looking results with plastic surgery:
