What Are The Benefits of Breast Rearrangement Surgery?
Breast reconstruction surgery can take many forms. For anyone unaware, I perform breast reconstruction procedures to help rebuild the breast(s) after a woman undergoes a lumpectomy or mastectomy to treat breast cancer. In some cases, women who undergo a lumpectomy may benefit from undergoing breast rearrangement instead of a more traditional breast reconstruction procedure. For anyone unfamiliar with this outstanding procedure option, I wanted to discuss the benefits of breast rearrangement surgery.
Unlike breast reconstruction which utilizes either breast implants or the patient’s own natural tissue to rebuild the breast following surgery, breast rearrangement only utilizes the remaining tissue that is left in the breast area following a lumpectomy to restore fullness to the affected breast. As long as the patient has enough remaining healthy breast tissue to successfully undergo rearrangement surgery, the procedure option can provide some unique benefits that some women may prefer.
In the video below, I go into detail on breast rearrangement surgery and the benefits that it can provide women after undergoing breast cancer surgery:
In some cases to help retain breast symmetry after breast cancer, breast rearrangement can be accompanied by a breast lift or breast reduction procedure. Offering these kinds of options allows each of my patients to more successfully find the procedure that will most help them feel like themselves again following breast cancer.
