True or False: Rhinoplasty Surgery
It’s always wonderful to hear from patients who are proactively researching and educating themselves when preparing for cosmetic surgery. However, it can be extremely difficult at times to separate fact from fiction depending on the source of your information. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I pride myself on my ability to educate and assure my patients on all the details related to their respective cosmetic procedure. This is why I have taken some time to discuss what is true and what is false regarding rhinoplasty surgery.
Rhinoplasty is Very Safe
It’s a fact that rhinoplasty is a very safe cosmetic procedure when performed by an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon. However, rhinoplasty is still surgery and that means that it carries some inherent risks, which I will discuss in-details during pre-surgery rhinoplasty consultation. The best way to minimize these risks and promote the best long-term aesthetic results is to closely follow your plastic surgeon’s pre and post-surgery instructions and attend all follow-up appointments.
Undergoing Rhinoplasty Surgery Can Change Your Voice
This is false. While this concern is understandable since there is an obvious connection between the nose and mouth, there will be no discernible change to a patient’s voice following rhinoplasty surgery. However, it’s important to have your procedure performed by an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon to reduce the risk of any potential complications.
The Procedure Is Highly Customizable
This is true. Rhinoplasty can be performed in several different ways depending on the specific needs of each patient. The surgery can be used to alter the size and/or shape of a patient’s nose. Additionally, I often use different techniques for male and female patients.
I have been performing rhinoplasty surgery for decades and my team and I have the knowledge and experience necessary to ensure a comfortable and successful experience for every patient we treat.
