Clearing Up Common Mommy Makeover Myths
While there is no shortage of reasons why a person may be interested in undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure, a very common one that I hear from patients is the desire to look younger. I completely understand. Looking old goes hand in hand with feeling old and nobody wants that. This is perhaps why mommy makeover surgery is so in demand. At my practice, I utilize mommy makeover procedures to effectively help women restore the trimmer, healthier-looking figures of their younger years. To help prospective patients gain a better understanding of what this outstanding cosmetic surgery combination can do, I have taken some time to debunk some of the most common myths about mommy makeover surgery.
Myth #1: A mommy makeover must include breast augmentation surgery
This is false. One of the great things about mommy makeover surgery is that it can be custom-tailored to the specific needs of each patient. While breast augmentation is certainly an option that I provide to my patients, some may prefer or be better suited to breast reduction or just a breast lift instead. I’m fine with any of these options as long as the patient is a good candidate and the procedure is able to safely help my patient achieve their aesthetic goals.
Myth #2: There will be significant scarring following a mommy makeover
Thankfully, this is not the case. It’s a fact that all cosmetic surgery procedures will leave some degree of post-surgery scarring. But while the combination nature of a mommy makeover may make some women fear that their scarring will be considerable, this is simply not the case. In my experience, visible scarring after a mommy makeover is minimal since I am able to conceal scars in discreet places with little visibility. Additionally, with proper care and time, these scars will fade.
Myth #3: A mommy makeover will be especially expensive
While the exact cost of a plastic surgery procedure may vary depending on each patient’s specific surgery, many of my mommy makeover patients are relieved to learn that combining their procedures into one mommy makeover can actually be the most cost-effective approach. Undergoing a mommy makeover, instead of undergoing separate procedures, can help patients reduce their overall surgical costs including hospital and anesthesia fees. I also make sure to provide plastic surgery financing options for patients who prefer this financial assistance method.
While it may seem complex, a mommy makeover has become fairly routine in recent years. As long as you find an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon to perform your surgery, a mommy makeover can provide substantial body contouring results that last.
