How Does Breast Rearrangement Work After Breast Cancer?
Much like any other plastic surgery procedure, every woman who wants to undergo breast reconstruction following a breast cancer surgery has different needs and preferences. For starters, women who undergo a lumpectomy will require different care than those who undergo a mastectomy. That’s why I pride myself on offering as many options as possible for these prospective patients including reconstruction with implants, the TRAM flap technique, and more. Today, I want to focus on one of the more exciting procedure options that I perform, breast rearrangement after a lumpectomy.
Breast rearrangement works by rearranging the remaining breast tissue after a lumpectomy to restore fullness to the affected breast. In many cases, this procedure is paired with a breast reduction or breast lift in one or both breasts to help achieve breast symmetry. In order to be a good candidate for this procedure, the patient must have enough remaining healthy breast tissue to be properly rearranged.
In the video below, I explain how breast rearrangement surgery can provide another excellent treatment alternative for women considering reconstruction after their lumpectomy:
I perform a wide variety of breast reconstruction procedures, including reconstructing with breast implants, using the patient’s natural tissue from elsewhere on the body, and breast rearrangement. The goal is always to help my patient feel whole and confident again after their battle with breast cancer.
