Dr. Franklyn Elliott to Give Honorary Hartrampf Lecture at Atlanta Breast Symposium
This year, world-renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeons from around the globe will meet for the 30th Annual Breast Surgery Symposium. Held at the Intercontinental Hotel’s Windsor Ballroom, the meeting will include live surgical demonstrations with incomparable, advanced techniques to provide learning opportunities in an environment filled with other industry-leading colleagues. Board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Franklyn Elliott will be making the honorary lecture to recognize Atlanta Plastic Surgery co-founder and breast reconstruction pioneer Dr. Carl Hartrampf, who worked to develop the TRAM flap method, one of the most innovative techniques performed following mastectomy. The pedicled TRAM flap method will be demonstrated to honor Dr. Hartrampf, who inspired the meeting as a whole.
This year’s conference, which will span from January 31st to February 2nd, 2014, is titled “Evidence is the Best Medicine” and will demonstrate live surgeries including breast augmentation and mastopexy using shaped implants and simultaneous large volume autologous fat transfer following implant removal.
With nearly 500 surgeons to be in attendance, discussions will emphasize practical solutions for issues commonly faced in the industry, including proper case-by-case analysis, treatment options for cases such as breast reconstruction, and decision making, which all aid in creating the most nurturing, comprehensive environment for patient care—a priority of Dr. Elliott’s within his practice.
A teacher at heart, Dr. Elliott will also be giving several talks on cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. He will be talking about the bilateral TRAM operation, also known as the Hartrampf Technique and the differences in unilateral and bilateral TRAM reconstruction. Additionally, Dr. Elliott will moderate discussions on “Problem Cases” and “Augmentation vs. Mastopexy vs. Both” from the audience of colleagues present at the conference.
