Why Some Patients Utilize Plastic Surgery Financing
Although in the past cosmetic surgery was seen by some people as a luxury item, I’ve never believed that to be the case. While it’s certainly true that there is a difference between undergoing a cosmetic procedure and undergoing a life-saving heart surgery, it’s disingenuous to underplay the impact that cosmetic plastic surgery can have on a patient’s quality of life. You simply can’t put a price on self-esteem and confidence.
Unlike many other forms of surgery, cosmetic surgery procedures are not generally covered by health insurance providers. Even procedures like tummy tuck surgery or breast reduction that can provide outstanding medical benefits are considered elective in nature by most insurance providers and will not be covered for many patients. This leaves the entire burden of cost on the patient.
This is why I offer my patients the opportunity to use CareCredit® to finance their plastic surgery procedures. CareCredit® is a special credit card made specifically to assist plastic surgery patients by providing 6, 12, 18, and 24-month payment plans. Patients are free to choose which plan option is the best fit for their unique financial needs. At my practice, the patient-friendly 6- and 12-month plans with CareCredit® are completely interest-free for patients who qualify as long as payments are made within the specified promotional period.
I understand that the costs associated with cosmetic surgery are a major concern for many people. And while I have said for years that cosmetic surgery is often far more affordable than many people may realize, every person’s situation is different. There is certainly no shame in seeking financial assistance when it comes to plastic surgery. This is why I am more than happy to offer plastic surgery financing options for my patients.
