What Does It Mean for Plastic Surgery Results to Look “Natural”?
Preferences change over time in the world of plastic surgery. Although each patient is unique and will ultimately be after their own aesthetic goals, it’s undeniable that certain trends can absolutely shape the way that plastic surgery patients want to look after their procedure. One such trend we’ve seen a lot of in recent years is the preference for natural-looking plastic surgery results. But this term can mean different things to different patients and different plastic surgeons. This is why I wanted to go into more detail on what I mean when I offer my patients natural-looking results from their cosmetic surgery.
Whether I am performing a face, body contouring, or cosmetic breast procedure, my goal is to help my patients rejuvenate their appearance. But this is done by enhancing their natural features, not erasing them. I never want a patient to exit plastic surgery looking like anyone but their best selves. This can manifest itself in both which procedures are done, and also how they are performed. For example, while breast augmentation is still extremely common, the prevalence of both breast lift surgery and breast reduction surgery has grown in recent years as the demand for more modest, natural-looking breasts has increased.
Check out the video below, where I discuss the concept of natural-looking plastic surgery and how I help my patients achieve this goal:
At the end of the day, the “right” result is the one that makes my patient feel the best about their new appearance.
