The Many Benefits of a Short Scar Facelift
Scarring is a common concern for patients considering cosmetic surgery. I can say from my over 35 years as a board-certified plastic surgeon that this concern is only intensified for patients contemplating procedures to more visible areas of the body like their face. This is why I worked hard to develop a technique for my short scar facelift, a less invasive option for patients more on edge about potential scarring.
A short scar facelift differentiates itself from other facelift procedures by utilizing small incisions that begin in the temporal hair and extend downward in front of the earlobe. The facial skin and soft tissue is then repositioned to lift the cheeks and jowls, while reducing the prominence of the lower eyelids and softening the nasolabial folds, to provide a natural lifting effect. This way, patients can achieve a terrific result with only minimal scarring. Another added perk of the short scar facelift, is that since it is a minimally-invasive procedure that uses local anesthetic and Quill™ knotless sutures, very little downtime is generally required (though this can vary from patient to patient). In the video below, I detail my short scar facelift and which patients may most benefit from this specific procedure:
Keep in mind that every patient is different and a short scar facelift may not be right for everyone. For instance, patients who need a larger amount of skin removed and more tissue repositioned during their procedure would likely benefit more from a conventional facelift. This is one of the things that we will address during your facelift consultation to confirm which procedure type will prove most helpful for you and your unique aesthetic goals.
