What Areas Can Fat Transfer Injections Be Used?
During liposuction consultations, my patients often ask what happens to the fat that is removed during the procedure. In many cases, we safely dispose of this material following surgery, but sometimes this fat can prove to be incredibly valuable for patients seeking additional aesthetic rejuvenation. Fat transfer injections utilize this fat removed during liposuction to add needed volume to areas on the face, breast, and body. To help demonstrate how fat transfer can help my patients, I wanted to discuss the most common areas this procedure is used to address.
Fat transfer injections can help provide an increase in breast volume for women who prefer not to undergo traditional breast augmentation with breast implants. The results of this procedure are subtle, natural-looking, and outstanding. However, I always advise patients that the results achieved with fat transfer for the breasts are more modest in size than the results that breast implants can help achieve. In some cases, fat transfer for the breast can be used in conjunction with traditional augmentation procedures that use implants to help accentuate the final results of the procedure. Fat transfer can also be used to help women restore their breasts after undergoing breast cancer surgery.
Fat transfer injections are also very popular among patients who wish to address signs of facial aging including enhancing their lips, treating hollow cheeks, and more. In the following video, I discuss in-detail how fat transfer injections can be used to help patients rejuvenate the appearance of their face:
The world of cosmetic surgery changes constantly and I feel it is part of my duty as a board-certified plastic surgeon to provide as many safe and effective options as possible to each of my patients. Fat transfer can be a fantastic way for patients to achieve subtle, but significant aesthetic rejuvenation, but it may not be the right choice for every patient.
